Cadbury’s Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Program Returns People Home

Brian Klocke
When examining health care options, are you aware of the different programs and services available? Have you heard of sub-acute rehabilitation services?

What is sub-acute rehabilitation?

Cadbury’s Health Care Center Administrator Brian Klocke explains sub-acute rehabilitation services as “the bridge between the hospital and the return home.”

Sub-acute rehabilitation services encompass several hours of physical therapy per week. Residents stay in a skilled nursing facility until their therapy goals are met, and then they return home.

People can enter sub-acute rehabilitation programs for a number of reasons. Some people enter rehabilitation after having a prolonged hospital stay for issues such as a fall at home with injury, strokes, or cardiac events, and need rehabilitation to live independently again. Others choose to enter sub-acute rehabilitation to continue living independently, such as receiving therapy following elective surgical procedures such as joint replacement.

On average, people stay in the sub-acute rehabilitation program for about three weeks.

What does Cadbury at Cherry Hill offer for sub-acute rehabilitation?

Cadbury has immediate openings in their Healthcare Center for those who need additional time to gain strength before returning home.

The services Cadbury provides for sub-acute rehabilitation include physical, occupational, and speech therapy and skilled nursing care seven days a week.

Cadbury has offered sub-acute rehabilitation services for more than 15 years and has helped thousands of people return to their homes in the community or to a lesser level of care such as assisted living programs.

“We return about 200 to 250 people back to their homes safely through our sub acute program each year” Klocke said.
